Meditation for World Mental Health Day

Image
In Senior Infants we know it is okay to take some time to relax if you are feeling a bit tired or worried. To celebrate world mental health day we talked about things that make us feel this way like being woken up early by your little sister or when we fall over and hurt ourselves. We practiced mediation and visualization in the classroom to help us relax. It was so much fun and we're definitely going to try to use it more often!

Fun at the Farm!

Senior Infants were kept very busy the past two weeks with our theme of 'On the Farm'. We learnt all about how milk comes from the grass to our glass and even got to practice milking a cow! After we learnt about different foods that come from a dairy farm we made our own butter from cream. We churned the cream by taking turns at shaking it. The long time shaking was definitely worth it when we got to taste our own produce on brown bread! It tasted BUTTER than you could imagine!

Mathematicians in the Making!

We are having so much fun learning math in Senior Infants. We are experts at conservation of number, our teacher cannot trick us by moving the cubes/spots around. We are also able to use the + and = signs and show many ways of partitioning the number 5! Did I mention we are pros at counting all the way to 100!

Tá an Fómhar Linn!

Senior Infants are having so much fun with our new theme of Autumn! Everyday we have a turn at a different area of play; small world, play dough, construction, junk art and role play! In the role play area we are running a farm shop buying and selling all fresh produce, cabbage, onions, potatoes and jam. The junk art table are kept busy creating master pieces from the leaves and twigs. Down in the construction area the children must plan and build their own building, today we built a haunted house!

Visit from Cork GAA Stars

Senior Infants dressed in red to welcome back past pupils Neil Lordan and Shane Kingston back to Scoil Ballinora after their successes wearing the county colours. Neil Lordan was on the Cork Minor team that overcame Galway in the football All-Ireland final. We were even lucky enough to challenge the sports stars and win! Bhí lá iontach againn!
