We've learnt all about journeys and different modes of transport! We had some wonderful vehicles being made in Senior Infants from jet skis to the Titanic and giant buses to rocket cars!
Ballinora National School celebrated engineers week from the 2nd - 6th of March! Senior Infants got involved in lots of fun activities! On Tuesday local engineer Micheal O'Gorman came in to visit our class we talked about everything from the big bang to how phones and computers were made! Even Mr. Foley joined in to help demonstrate how we are still standing even though the world is always spinning around and around. On Thursday, Miss Coombes and forth class joined in the fun and we took part in an engineering challenge. Divided into ten teams made up of fourth class and senior infants we had to try to build the biggest structure we could using only 40 straws and sellotape. The structure had to stand by itself for at least 10 seconds! Congratulations to all the children for some fantastic creations! There are definitely a few future engineers in scoil Bhaile Nóra!
We have been learning all about the Garda station recently. Some Gardaí from Ballincollig Garda Station visited Junior and Senior Infants our school. They spoke to us about road safety and their jobs as gardaí.
