We've learnt all about journeys and different modes of transport! We had some wonderful vehicles being made in Senior Infants from jet skis to the Titanic and giant buses to rocket cars!
We were learning all about the post office. Our mission? Find the safest way to send Taytos through the post and back to us without them breaking into tiny pieces. We used materials from our junk art supplies and asked Ursula for envelopes to send our packages. Once they were ready to be sent we wrote the address on the front and then brought them to be posted. After about three days they arrives back in the office. We tested paper, hard plastic, cardboard, tissue paper and tinfoil. It was interesting to see that some of them were very damaged and the crisps were like dust, especially the bag wrapped with just paper! The best was definitely the hard plastic lunchbox with the bubble wrap doing a good job too! As a special treat we even got to eat the Taytos when they were returned! YUMMY!
We had so much fun for science week! There was lots of experiments of all kinds. We had a visit from a mad old scientist Tony Baloney who did all sorts of crazy tricks for us! On Wednesday Lauren and Dave came in to talk to us all about bacteria and how easily germs can spread! Everyone even got to make their own bacteria out of playdough. We finished off the week with rang a sé when they showed us different science experiments and how they worked! We have so many buddy scientist in senior infants!
We have been learning all about the Garda station recently. Some Gardaí from Ballincollig Garda Station visited Junior and Senior Infants our school. They spoke to us about road safety and their jobs as gardaí.
